Help Make a Difference: Volunteer with the Community Connections App We're looking for warm, friendly volunteers with a DBS to join our Community Connections pilot - a digital project designed to help older adults feel less alone. The app supports meaningful conversations and shared interests among residents in Plymouth’s social housing communities. As a volunteer, you'll play a simple but powerful role: offering your time to talk about something you enjoy. Whether it's gardening, local history, football, crafts, or music - just let us know your interests, and we’ll match you with someone who wants to talk about the same thing.

The app has two main areas:

  • Activities – a calendar of online events, sessions, and groups for residents to join.
  • Interests – a space where volunteers and residents list topics they enjoy chatting about. When a resident sees your interest and would like a chat, you'll get a notification—but there's no pressure to reply if you're busy. You choose when and how often to engage. It’s a flexible, low-commitment way to brighten someone’s day—and you might find it brightens yours too.
