Custard digging a hole

Terms of use

Grab a coffee, a comfy chair and enjoy our riveting "Terms of Use" for Time4Good.

By using our "Platform" or downloading our "App", you agree to promote positive vibes and treat everyone with respect.

These terms apply to:

  • Every person using the Platform as a member of a circle, whether you're the giver or receiver of "User Services".
  • Every person in charge of setting up and managing a circle (the superhero known as the "Circle Admin").

All this awesomeness is brought to you by "Time4Good Ltd" ("T4G" for short). We oversee this Platform - handling queries relating to content, users and marketing. Got questions? Contact [email protected] for enquiries.

1. Accessing the platform

To unlock the wonders of our Platform, you'll need to:

  1. Be 16 or older (sorry, kids!).
  2. Follow these terms and our "Code of Conduct".
  3. Be cool.
  4. Take ownership for anything you create, say or do on T4G.
  5. Keep your account details secret.

2. Circle Administrator commitments (for those with more power...)

With great power comes great responsibility. So, as a Circle Admin, you must also:

  1. Be 18 or older. In other words, be an adult or something that resembles one.
  2. Follow our rules like a fastidious librarian.
  3. Do your best not to annoy people by sharing - or oversharing - information irresponsibly.
  4. Comply with any reasonable requests made by the T4G team.
  5. Implement safeguarding frameworks and moderate User Services like a boss.
  6. Verify users for your circle and keep everyone safe. Safety first, always!

3. Our commitments

Scout's honour, we promise to:

  1. Collect only relevant personal info.
  2. Not sell your data.
  3. Explain why we need your data.
  4. Safely store and protect your data like it's the last slice of pizza.
  5. Respect your wishes and rights.
  6. Keep content updated and error-free.
  7. Give you a heads-up on major changes.
  8. Support recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
  9. Assist with Platform queries.
  10. Refuse inappropriate listings, content or memberships.
  11. Remove your info if used without permission.
  12. Anonymise your details like a Ninja in full stealth mode.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

When using our Platform, you must play nice. Here's how:

  • Provide accurate info about yourself.
  • Use the Platform as intended.
  • No fake moustaches or alter egos.
  • Treat others with respect.
  • Keep it lawful.
  • No password sharing.
  • Notify us of any unauthorised use.
  • Include our copyright notice in references.
  • Comply with tech laws and regulations. Don't hack the mainframe Neo.
  • Spread love, not hate.

Avoid:

  • Sharing personal info without consent.
  • Using the Platform for commercial purposes without our blessing.
  • Misusing the Platform in any sneaky ways.
  • Violating copyright laws like a naughty pirate.
  • Using others' credentials. Just be yourself.
  • Engaging in fraud or malice.
  • Introducing harmful code or viruses.
  • Infringing on our IP rights. Back off warchild.
  • Transmitting offensive or defamatory material.
  • Compromising our systems. No funny business, yeah?
  • Collecting data from our service.
  • Harming or harassing others.
  • Spamming.
  • Suggesting false associations or endorsements.

5. Content Standards

When uploading content to our platform, follow our "Content Standards":

Do:

  1. Be accurate for factual statements. No fake news, please!
  2. Reflect genuine opinions for subjective statements. We want the real deal, not your neighbour's thoughts!
  3. Comply with UK and relevant international laws.

Do not:

  1. Defame any person. Keep it classy!
  2. Contain obscene, offensive, illegal, sexually explicit or inflammatory material. We like our platform rated PG.
  3. Promote violence or discrimination based on various factors. We're all about love and inclusivity.
  4. Infringe on others' copyright, database right or trademarks. No copycats allowed!
  5. Deceive or breach legal duties to third parties. Honesty is always the best policy.
  6. Threaten, harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or invade privacy. Good vibes only, please.
  7. Impersonate or misrepresent identity or affiliation. Be yourself, everyone else is taken!
  8. Falsely attribute contributions to us. We're flattered, but no thanks.

6. Moderating interactive services

We offer fun interactive services like messaging and chatrooms, but here’s the deal:

  • We’re not obligated to oversee or moderate.
  • If content is flagged, we decide whether to intervene. Play nice and we won’t have to.
  • Contact us if you need to. We’re here to help.
  • This platform is not for children (under 16s). No exceptions.
  • Moderation isn’t perfect. Parents, stay vigilant.
  • We're not responsible for actions violating our policies. You know the rules!
  • If you want to whinge and moan, check out this site instead.
  • Basically, keep it classy or we'll get the heavies in!

7. Linking to our Platform

Feel free to link to our Platform fairly and legally. But:

  • No harm to our reputation.
  • No false associations.
  • Only link from websites you own.
  • Comply with our Acceptable Use Policy.

8. Who we are and what these terms do

These terms are a legal agreement between you (Licensee or you) and "Time4Good Ltd" (Licensor, us, we or our), granting you the right to use our software.

Time4Good ("T4G" for short) is registered in England and Wales with company number 15825125. You'll find us walking the corridors of the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre, Unit FF26, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 3FF.

In exchange for you promising to play by the rules, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable and totally revocable right to access and use our Platform and Documentation according to these terms.

In short, we let you use our Platform but we’re still the proud owners of all the fun stuff you’ll find here.

9. Your privacy

Under data protection laws, we are required to tell you who we are, how we process your personal data, why we need it and what your rights are regarding your data.

We’re super serious about your privacy. Our privacy policy is like the "Hitchhiker's Guide to Your Data." It’s got plenty of info, but the key takeaway is: “Don’t panic! We’ve got your back.”

10. App store provider's terms also apply

Remember...

If you’re getting our app from an app store, their rules also apply. And if their rules conflict with ours, well, we have to bow down to the mighty app store. Even superheroes follow rules sometimes!

11. Support for the platform and how to tell us about problems

Got questions? Join our "T4G Buddies" circle where our buddies can help. Buddies are real users who earn kindness points (Kn) by helping others. They're verified by us and strut around with a shiny Buddies badge. If they insist on showing it off, just play along!

Scheduled maintenance happens between 9am and 5pm UK time. We'll try to undertake scheduled non-essential maintenance outside of normal business hours, but before we go to bed.

12. How you may use this platform

In return for you agreeing to these epic terms, you may:

  • View, use and display the T4G Platform (including its content) for personal, social or community purposes;
  • Use any Documentation to support your use of the Platform;
  • Submit your own content to the Platform (subject to these terms);
  • Use any additional software code or updates for the Platform that we offer for free.

Remember to keep your Platform password under lock and key, and if you catch anyone trying to sneak in through the back door, give us a heads-up pronto. Email us at [email protected].

If your password goes on an unsanctioned vacation, we have the right to act, including disabling your user account. That would be awful for the both of us.

13. Changes to these terms and Platform

We might sprinkle in some updates to keep up with new laws, features or just to stay cool. We’ll give you 30 days' notice. If you’re not on board with the changes, just stop using the Platform and no hard feelings!

We might also auto-update the Platform or App now and then to boost performance, add cool features, keep up with system changes or fix bugs. Or we may ask you to make updates yourself.

If you choose not to install such updates or if you opt out of automatic updates you may not be able to continue using the Platform. It's your choice but we highly recommend keeping things up-to-date.

If you're using the Platform or App on someone else's phone or device, make sure you have their permission. You'll still need to follow these terms. Borrowing a device means borrowing the rules too!

14. Third party content

If you click a link to another site, don’t blame us for what you find there. We didn’t make it and we’re not responsible for what they do with your data (or how terrible their memes are).

15. "In-App Purchases"

One day, our Platform App might tempt you with extra features you can buy. Remember, it’s your responsibility to keep track of what you spend on these treats.

If you're under 18, ask your folks before making any purchases. When you do buy something, you’re telling us they’re ok with it. So listen to your elders!

For tips on how to turn off or manage these purchases, check out the App Store's rules, your device's help section, or just Google it. Sometimes they like to hide the cookie jar on the top shelf!

These extras can only be used in our app and can’t be undone once you’ve grabbed them. Sorry, no refunds or cash swaps either.

If something you buy doesn’t work right, we’ll investigate and decide if you need a fix or a replacement. We won’t charge you for this. If we can’t sort it out quickly, we’ll let the App Store refund you up to what you paid.

16. Licence restrictions

Here’s the deal: no hacking, cracking or trying to make our Platform into a Franken-app. Be cool, don’t rent or sell it and definitely don’t try to reverse-engineer it. Basically, don’t be a Bond villain.

In other words, you agree to:

  • Not rent, lease, copy or profit from our Platform or Documentation without our permission.
  • Not mess with the code, merge or modify our Platform.
  • Avoid disassembling, reverse-engineering or creating spin-offs of our Platform.
  • Not replicate or resell any part of the Platform or Documentation unless we say it’s ok.
  • Use the Platform legally and ethically, avoiding hacking or inserting malicious code.
  • Respect our intellectual property and that of others, avoiding unauthorised use of material.
  • Avoid overloading or damaging our systems, and don’t interfere with other users.
  • Not collect or decode data from our Platform.
  • Avoid using software to scrape or crawl our web pages.
  • Comply with all applicable technology and export laws. Follow the tech rules.

In short, be like the Fonz: be cool.

17. Acceptable use restrictions

Short version: No shady stuff. No stealing IP. No posting stuff that’s rude, illegal or offensive. Play nice, don’t wreck the tech, and keep your fingers out of the data jar.

Long version:

  • Don’t use the Platform for anything illegal or against these terms.
  • Don’t mess with our intellectual property or anyone else’s.
  • Don’t post anything defamatory, offensive or just plain rude.
  • Don’t damage, overload or mess with our systems or other users.
  • Don’t collect info or try to decode our transmissions.
  • Don’t use software to scrape or crawl our web pages.
  • Obey all tech and export laws that apply.

18. Intellectual Property Rights

We own all the cool stuff on the Platform. You can use it but no funny business.

You agree:

  • All the intellectual property for our Platform and Content belongs to us. You’re just borrowing it.
  • You only have the right to use the Platform, Documentation and Content as per these terms - nothing more.
  • You keep ownership of your content but you grant us and other users some rights to use it (details below).

When you upload or post content:

  • You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, distribute, make derivative works, display and perform your content in connection with the Platform. We can use it across different media to promote the Platform forever.
  • Other users can access, use, reproduce, distribute, make derivative works, display and perform your content within the Platform’s functionality and these terms.

In short, you own your stuff, but let us and others use it too!

19. Our responsibility for loss or damage suffered by you

If we screw up and you lose something foreseeable, we’ll fix it. But if you didn’t see it coming either, that’s on you. We’re not responsible for your business losses either, so keep it fun and community-focused.

No using the Platform to build your tech empire, sorry!

20. Limitation of liability

We’re not on the hook for lost profits, business opportunities or your reputation if you suddenly become uncool. The most we’ll owe you is £100 - enough for a decent meal, but not enough for a jet-ski.

21. Termination

If you mess up badly or break the rules, we may have to say goodbye. You’ll need to stop using the Platform, delete it, and maybe even write us a “sorry” email (or just wave from afar). We’ll also turn off your access remotely, so no sneaking back in!

But, keep it cool and we'll all be happy!

22. Events outside our control

If a zombie apocalypse breaks out, or if something out of our control happens, we're not responsible for any failure or delay in performing our obligations. We'll try our best to work around it of course, but no guarantees!

An "event outside our control" covers things like strikes, riots, invasions, terrorist attacks, wars, natural disasters or even network failures. Basically, if the universe decides to throw a tantrum, we'll blame Geoff but if it's not his fault, refer to sentence 1.

23. Other important terms

  • One day we might pass on our rights and duties to someone else but, if we do, it won’t affect your rights.
  • You can’t pass on your rights or duties under these terms to anyone else unless we agree in writing.
  • Only you and us have any say in these terms – no one else can enforce them.
  • Each part of these terms is separate. If one part is illegal, the rest still apply.
  • If we don’t enforce these terms right away, we can still enforce them later. Delaying doesn’t mean we’ve given up.
  • These terms are governed by English law. If there’s a problem, English courts will sort it out.
  • We take serious measures to keep your data safe, like daily offsite backups, redundant networks and fire protection.
  • If we go bankrupt, our Data Protection Officer will make sure your data is transferred safely to you or a new provider.

24. In short...

  • If you don’t agree to these terms, DO NOT use the Platform.
  • If you do, may the fun and laughter with your friends, family and neighbours be endless ❤️.

These terms are governed by English law. Disputes? They’ll be settled in the courts of England and Wales. If a part is invalid, we’ll tweak or remove it, and the rest will stay intact.
