Let’s say you’re a successful tree surgeon with all the gear.
As for me, I don’t have a skill that pays a wedge, but I’m good with dogs. Especially pugs.
Is our time valued equally on Time4Good?
Yarp.
We’re not talking about big jobs. You got a tree to chop down, you gotta get paid.
We’re talking small acts of kindness.
Maybe you’d be happy to lop off your neighbour’s branch quickly. A neighbourly act of kindness that they’d appreciate.
Then what if you’re out late one evening. Your dog, a pug called Benji, is hungry, needs a wee and would love a walk.
In that moment I can solve your pug problem!
Our time is equal.
Pre-T4G example
I was getting my house ready for summer renting and had a problem with a dodgy spotlight in the bathroom.
I tried changing the bulb myself but it was surprisingly complicated.
Given my grasp of electrics I’d likely find a way to black-out the whole street and electrocute myself in the process.
There’s an electrician a few doors down, so I asked if he minded saving my bacon.
He sorted me out.
He didn’t want any money, in his words it was “a neighbourly gesture”.
I gave him a bottle of wine (and some Kn!) as a neighbourly gesture in return. He reluctantly accepted.
Mind you, he was less reluctant when I offered to take his stuff to the tip!
Kindness is a gift that keeps giving.
