No my friend, no.
Fundamentally Facebook doesn’t do time trading and recording of time-for-kindness exchanges. You can’t earn Kn on Facebook! Plus all the controls and safeguarding and stuff that goes with it.
But it’s deeper than that.
T4G’s mission: to unleash kindness.
Facebook’s mission seems to be: fill your eyeballs with adverts.
Enough adverts so that companies will throw buckets of money at them and their shareholders.
On Facebook you’re a product.
On Time4Good you’re a friend, neighbour, micro volunteer … a person.
Don’t get us wrong, Facebook has its place. Because of Facebook many of us are in touch with a long-lost auntie, or the odd kid from school - who’s turned out to be handsome and hilarious. Which is cool.
But while it has connected us in pixels, Facebook has disconnected us in person. It’s in person where real connection is usually made.
Let’s talk mental health.
Facebook is at the forefront of social media’s assault on our senses. We’re more troubled mentally than ever. We’re comparing ourselves to other’s curated lives. Our opinions are polarised. Things descend quickly into keyboard bashing arguments.
Time4Good is different.
Real-life science shows that giving and receiving kindness, and even seeing kindness, makes us happier and healthier.
This is what Time4Good is all about.
We’re working really hard to foster a positive vibe in every circle.
T4G is a place where good things come to those who are kind.
Small acts of kindness are the antidote.
T4G members believe in kindness so much so they’ve taken a pledge at sign up.
A T4G member is the kind of person who would take a friend to a Spice Girls reunion... even if they are a metal head.
A truly selfless act.
But it’s not the big gestures that matter most. It’s day-to-day kindness that adds up…
Like baking a cake for someone who needs it (let’s face it, we all need a cake baked for us from time to time).
Or giving the new neighbour a hand to move in.
Or helping a charity in a small way.
Or 101 other small acts of kindness.
Even requesting help for yourself is a kind act. Especially on T4G as you give the other person another reason to collect Kn, and a thank you to add to their collection.
Collecting thank yous instead of likes. You can’t do that on Facebook.
